We used to sing and dance in the rain
Lived our lives in the fast lane
Dreamed and planned for Glory Days
but Reality got in the way Chase, Chase, Chase, Chasing the Dream
Not everything is what it seems
Chase, Chase, Chase, Chasing the Dream Don’t get what you want you get what you need We lived for the weekend to get away
From the grind of the day to day
Dreamed of the future and what could be
Then we let go and set us ourselves free Chorus Not everything we planned came to be
But you’re still right here next to me
Yeah, you are right here next to me

When you left me
I could not sleep
 When you left me
You knocked me off my feet Whiskey, vodka, beer, and gin
Are to blame for the shape I’m in
But, you’re the reason I fell apart
Yeah, you’re the reason for my broken heart Thought I could forget you
With some help from my friends But I’ll never forget you
Until I reach my end Whiskey, vodka, beer, and gin
Are to blame for the shape I’m in
But, you’re the reason I fell apart
Yeah, you’re the reason for my broken heart Still hope you’ll come back To put an end to my pain Still hope you’ll come back Before I go insane

Don’t look down Don’t look around Look straight ahead Keep looking forward Take a deep breath Look straight ahead Take the plunge Feel free be happy (Feel free and fly) If you’re having second thoughts At a cross road that confuses If you’re having second thoughts Sooner or later you have to choose Everything looks serene from the edge of the cliff If you’re having second thoughts Standing on the edge afraid of life If you’re having second thoughts Step to the edge and learn to fly Everything looks serene from the edge of the cliff Take the plunge Don’t look back No second guesses You’re on the right track Everything looks serene from the edge of the cliff

When I woke up this morning the rain was pouring down I reached out to touch you but you could not be found And I don’t even own a picture just a memory of your face But you can’t take the memory from me Like you did your sweet embrace Well I think of you each moment and dream of you each night Will I ever find another to replace you in my life I took a walk last evening without you by my side The moon shone so lonely and the wind seemed to cry

Something in your eyes. Takes me straight to heaven Something in your eyes. Carries me away. Something in your eyes. Something in your eyes Something in your eyes. Something in your eyes Something in your soul. Visits me in dreams, love And I wonder if you’re real or fantasy Something in your touch takes me by the hand, love Leading me to where I’ve never been before Something in voice calls out to my heart, love Asking me to stay until the end of time

When the light goes out do you fly away? When the light goes out do you live another day? When the light goes out no one can know When their light goes out The world is darker without your flame The world is colder and we’re filled with pain And we cry for missing you. Some burn out too fast some linger long Some cry and moan while others sing a song And we will always remember you When the light goes out do you fly away? When the light goes out do you live another day? When the light goes out no one can know When their light goes out Somewhere a candle is burning bright Somewhere a candle illuminates the night And we lit it just for you One flame is lit another goes out Some think they know while others are filled with doubt And the world turns on and on

Are you a Christian are you a Jew. Maybe a Buddhist or a Fool Are you a Hindu or a Sikh Sunni, Shiite, or a Freak I’m not exactly anything Maybe a little bit of everything It really doesn’t mean a thing In the larger scope of life It’s just a reason to Fight Are you Red or are you Blue Know it all without a clue Are you wrong or are you right Stand in the dark or in the light Are you Left wing or from the right Freedom of Choice or Right to Life Are you rich or are you poor Easy going or hard core Is it Yes or is it No? Not so clear cut time to go Is it black or is it white? A shade of grey looks just right

All over the world there is fighting Tensions running high We can’t solve all the world’s problems Let’s start with you and I You gotta make peace with yourself Make peace with yourself You gotta make peace with yourself Make peace with yourself You gotta make peace with yourself Make peace and be set free You gotta make peace with yourself Be the change you wish to see You gotta make peace with yourself To be truly happy You gotta make peace with yourself We’re all connected you and me All over the world people buy Things they don’ts need Sacrificing the Earth To satisfy their greed All over the world people cut Down the forest green Without a thought for the future I just want to live simply All over the world lakes are dying Air unfit to breath But no one wants to change their ways Let’s start with you and me

Reggae Girl 02:10
Went to Montego Bay on vacation There I met a sexy reggae girl Watched her dance in fascination Such a pretty reggae girl She lights up my life Like a ganja spliff She lifts me so high I know I can’t resist My little reggae girl My sweet reggae girl She really rocks my world My lovely reggae girl She’s a master of flirtation Sweet and sexy reggae girl My heart races. Anticipation Kissing the lips of my reggae girl Love exceeded all expectation Wish I never had to leave My heart’ll break at our separation Now I only love her in my dreams

The War on Drugs is dragging us down Death on the border in every town That wasn’t the weed it’s only a plant That wasn’t the weed Prohibition did that It can calm you down and relieve your pain It can make you hungry and dance in the rain Some States it’s legal called a medicine Others think the weed is a deadly sin The War on Drugs is a failure thru and thru Lawmakers afraid to break an old taboo Fill up the prisons and harass the young Is it really a crime to have a little fun?

Pretty Girl 03:13
Up on the Mountain Back in the Woods Lives a Pretty Girl They say was raised by wolves She is a Pretty Girl (x4) They say her name is Luna Hair as black as night Skin as pale as ivory Bathed in moonlight Few have seen her Though many have tried A solitary creature That will run away and hide Some say she’s not real Just a shadow in the night But I have seen her beauty In the full moon light She is a Pretty Girl (x4) Once I saw her staring Up at the moon While wolves in the distance Howled a mournful tune Know that if you go a courtin’ Flowers in your hand Those that went before Were never seen again.

Green Eyes 02:45
It's a great big world There's a million other guys I feel so lucky when I look In those green eyes Is it the sun That makes them so green Those are the prettiest eyes I have ever seen Green eyes... What makes them sparkle What makes them shine What makes those eyes of yours Look into mine

My Shadow 05:25
I walk with my Shadow beside me Born from the light of the moon Teaching me to look closely at things I otherwise would be blind to. I walk with my Shadow behind me Changing landscapes day after day Finding my purpose in the call of the birds In the light of the rising sun’s rays The purpose of life is to love The purpose of life is to find meaning I see me in you I see you in me We’re a part of Everything All you need to do is love unconditionally Love unconditionally Love unconditionally I walk with my Shadow in front of me Feeling fully alive On cold dark mornings wind catches your breath The moment’s beauty filling my eyes The present moment is fleeting My Shadow has left my side Alive for a moment, All slips away To enter the Great Divine

Remember all the Good Times Try to forget the bad Smile at my memory And cry when you’re sad In a Blink of an Eye In a Blink of an Eye you’re Holy In a blink of an eye I’m blue Time goes flying by And I’m left missing you In a Blink of an Eye Seize the moment when it comes To say I love you Follow all your dreams I hope they all come true So cherish every moment No matter how small Summer will be over soon And leaves will start to fall In a Blink of an Eye

There are many things in life that will catch your eyes but only one will catch your heart There are many things in life you will want to try until the troubles start Try a little bit of this and a lot of that Try this one and that one that’s where it’s at But sooner or later you’ll realize that you’ve found that special one There’s one for you and one for me That’s the way it is meant to be Living in peace and harmony Happy with all the world. There are many things in life that will pass you by Many loves will break your heart There are many things in life that will make you cry until the next round starts Try a little bit of this and a lot of that Try this one and that one that’s where it’s at But sooner or later you’ll realize that you’ve found that special one There’s one for you and one for me That’s the way it is meant to be Living in peace and harmony Happy with all the world. There are many times in life you will want to lie But that’s not always smart There are many times in life you will want to fly to avoid a broken heart

They say opposites attract That's the truth for me and you From Aries to Pisces Through the phases of the Moon Opposites attract To make a half a whole Together we’re stronger In our bodies and our souls Today’s our anniversary Years since we said our vows Every day’s been an adventure Though We’ve had our ups and downs Today’s our anniversary And yes I still love you We’ll make it work through thick and thin From different points of view I am ruled by Mercury Quick to change my mind Tolerant and witty But often somewhat blind You leap into the journey Confident you’re right Exploring the world always searching for the light Your North is my South node We travel different roads Always learning from each other On the path the stars bestowed We’ll make it work through thick and thin From different points of view!

Brent Godfrey returns with a second collection of songs recorded with guest musicians from the internet music collaboration website, Kompoz.com. The revolving cast of musicians results in an eclectic sound that smoothly changes throughout the CD from alternative country to pop, latin, reggae, traditional acoustic, and rock.

The CD begins and ends with the song, “Chasing the Dream”. However, the first version of the song is traditional country, while the final version of the song is a rock anthem. The song tells the story of what happens when reality gets in the way of the American Dream. You don’t always get what you want but you get what you need.

“The Shape I’m In” is a pedal steel driven alt-country song about lost love and alcohol.

“A Picture” is a saxophone driven Latin rumba about a painful breakup. It features a Santana inspired guitar solo.

“Something in Your Eyes” is an 80’s style romantic pop song featuring an Ebow guitar solo.

“The Light” is a world music influenced memorial to a departed friend. A bansuri flute and an electric guitar weave melodies around each other.

“Labels” is a tribal sounding song about how divisions are created by labeling people by their differences instead of celebrating the things they have in common. The labels don’t mean a thing, they’re just a reason to fight.

“It Wasn’t the Weed” is a fun, quirky rock song that speaks to the failure of the war on drugs. It wasn’t the weed that caused all the problems. Prohibition did that.

“Green Eyes” is an acoustic cover of the Hüsker Dü song that first appeared on the punk rock album “Flip Your Wig” in 1985. In this version the song is propelled by mandolin and fiddle instead of distorted electric guitar.

“Blink of an Eye” is a sparse acoustic song featuring Weissenborn slide guitar. Life is short as a blink of an eye. Cherish every moment.
