Remember when you were happy It really wasn’t that long ago, Come on and laugh with me Remember when I met you It doesn’t seem that long ago, Since our love was new Remember when skies were blue Even when the skies are gray Know that I love you Yes, even when the skies are gray I will always love you

Never Feel Blue Words & Music by Brent L. Godfrey © 2011 When I woke up this morning my eyes were all red Tired and sore hard to get out of bed Then I turned over and looked at you Oh when I’m with you I never feel blue The skies may be gray and without sun But when I’m with you I’m filled with love Well I came home from work tired and mad One of the worse days I ever had Then I opened the door and looked at you Oh, when I’m with you I never feel blue When I watch the news I get depressed. Fighting and killing economic distress Then I turn around and look for you Cause when I’m with you I never feel blue When I’m with you I never feel blue No, when I’m with you I never feel blue.

Apple Tree 04:10
Apple Tree Lyrics and Music by Brent L. Godfrey © 2011 Lyrics inspired and adapted from “The Painted Drum” by Louise Erdrich You have to love you have to feel It is the reason you are here. You are here to risk your heart Life will break you No one can stop it And when you feel betrayed or hurt Sit by an apple tree. Listen to them falling Wasting their sweetness Did you taste as many as you could? You have to change you have to grow It is the reason you are here You are here to share your love Solitude will break you With its yearning And when you’re broken or hurt Chorus Instrumental Verse You have to live you have to die The only thing truly yours is time In a cycle round and round The days will fly by No one can stop them And when death brushes near Chorus

Hope Words & Music by Brent L. Godfrey © 2009 The Clocks Tick a Tock they’re running out of time The ghosts in the memories of the old folks listening Say anyone can find hope in the stories The big stories and the little ones in between All you have to do is to be able to believe You can find hope in the rising sun. The Light 02:44
The Light Words & Music by Brent L. Godfrey © 2008 The world is darker without your flame The world is colder and we’re filled with pain And we cry for missing you. Some burn out too fast some linger long Some cry and moan while others sing a song And we will always remember you When the light goes out do you fly away? When the light goes out do you live another day? When the light goes out no one can know When their light goes out Somewhere a candle is burning bright Somewhere a candle illuminates the night And we lit it just for you One flame is lit another goes out Some think they know while others are filled with doubt And the world turns on and on

Guitars in Heaven Words & Music by Brent L. Godfrey © 2013 I used to play with Greg in a four piece band Traveled up and down this land Every night you could hear him sing And bend the hell out of his guitar strings They may not have beer in heaven That may be true But they’ve gotta have some Fender Mustang guitars No guitars in heaven would be too cruel Well, he left behind a wife and son A lot of friends, I’m glad I was one Every night I still hear him sing Remember how he bent those guitar strings? When that reaper calls me And it’s my time to go Don’t want to hear a chorus of harps I want a guitar solo to call me home Maybe we’ll play together again some day Way beyond the milky way Every night you’ll hear us sing With him bending the hell out of his guitar strings Yes, I hope we’ll play again some day Way beyond the milky way Every night you’ll hear us sing Shaking up heaven with those guitar strings.

about

Following a long hiatus from recording, Brent Godfrey has returned with his third collection of original songs.

All songs were written over the last 5 years to celebrate the joys of life and as self therapy to get through the difficult parts.

The recording features guest musicians, within the Kompoz.com music collaboration community, from across the U.S.A., Italy, Germany, Canada, Russia, Indonesia, and the U.K.

The CD spans the genres of folk rock, country, blues and world music.

“In the Moment” reflects the overall theme of the album, which is trying to enjoy all aspects of life and to go with the flow, instead of trying to control everything that happens.

“Betrayed” deals with trying to regain trust of one’s own body after recurrent bouts of acute pancreatitis.

“Gotta Get Up” reflects a similar theme but to a line dance country beat.“So Lucky” is a harmonica driven blues song.

“The Last Time You Sang” is a country love song in the style of Bonnie Raitt.

“High on Life”and “Life’s a Dance” feature Latin percussion and rhythm with some Santana influenced guitar parts weaving throughout.

“Realize” compares the tendency of forgetting your sleeping dreams when you wake up to letting your life dreams and plans slip away.

“Buy Back Time” explores the regrets of a workaholic.

“Apple Tree” was influenced by the book “The Painted Drum” by Louise Erdrich, and explores the meaning of life in a psychedelic middle eastern influenced style.

“Dazzling Face” is a song about seeing the Creator within Nature and mourns the destruction caused by global warming.

“The Light” incorporates world music tabla rhythms and the banzuri flute to tell the story of the loss of a close friend.

“Guitars in Heaven” is another song of loss that was influenced by the sound of Mark Knopfler.
